North Korean leader considers missile attacks in Russia as Western involvement in conflict – world

SEOUL, November 30th. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said in a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Beloussov that attacks with longer-range Western weapons in Russia constituted direct interference in the conflict in Ukraine, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

“Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the fact that the United States and the West, at the hands of the Kiev government, attacked Russian territory with their long-range weapons constituted a direct military intervention in the conflict,” the report said.

“Kim Jong Un mentioned that the recent retaliatory strike against Ukraine launched by the Russian government and military is a timely and effective measure to alert the US, the West and Ukraine, which are persisting in unwise military recklessness, about the seriousness of the situation “The situation and Russia’s willingness to take tough countermeasures,” KCNA reported.

According to the North Korean leader, it should be made clear to the “provocative forces led by the US” that they will achieve nothing useful if they ignore Russia’s warning.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that the United States and its NATO allies had announced they would authorize the use of longer-range weapons. According to the president, US and British missiles attacked Russian targets in the Kursk and Bryansk regions following the announcement.

Russia responded by firing its newest intermediate-range ballistic missile, Oreshnik, with a non-nuclear warhead, at a Ukrainian defense industry plant Yuzhmash in the city of Dnepr, Putin said. The Russian leader said the West could face severe consequences if its inflammatory policies led to a further escalation of the conflict.
