Runtime is worlds better than the Apple Watch Ultra – Garmin Fenix 8 Solar Smartwatch test

When it comes to supporting training, the Fenix 8 almost offers functional overkill. Dozens of preloaded activities ranging from running to white water rafting, to golf including course data to team sports such as soccer, are all on one board. New is the diving mode, through which the Garmin smartwatch officially supports scuba diving up to a depth of 40 meters. During a land training session, the Fenix 8 also offers ClimbPro and PacePro, GPS-based guidance for selected routes or climbing routes with an adjusted running speed on flats or inclines, as well as real-time information about current and upcoming climbs.

The pre-installed TopoActive maps, which are available and partially pre-installed on the Fenix 8, offer maps from all over the world. With an optional Outdoor Maps+ subscription it is possible to purchase additional premium map content, such as satellite images (RRP: 60 euros per year). During training, users can also be motivated with the integrated altimeter, barometer and electronic 3-axis compass. If you feel like exploring, you can also specify a distance on the Fenix 8 and then receive route suggestions for your training. Using the maps worked without any problems in the test, but the Garmin smartwatch would need a certain amount of time until the position was determined and new map sections were calculated.
