The world’s first musical dedicated to the life and souls of Shri Krishna, Rajadhiraaj: Love. Life. Leela made a spectacular debut in Delhi, captivating a packed audience at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Auditorium. Among those in attendance were Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, whose presence added an extra touch of glamor to the event. This breathtaking theater production promises to wow the state capital until December 8th.

Conceived by visionary creator Dhanraj Nathwani, the musical offered a moving portrayal of Shri Krishna’s magnanimity, grace and timeless teachings. After a successful run at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) in Mumbai, the show now brings its grandeur to Delhi and continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of storytelling, music and visuals.

An outstanding start in Delhi

The opening evening was a real spectacle with the presence of bureaucrats, influential personalities and art enthusiasts. The presence of Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar further underlined the cultural significance of the event. The audience was fascinated and many described it as a unique theatrical experience.

A theatrical miracle rooted in the legacy of Shri Krishna

Presented by executive producer Bhoomi Nathwani, the musical combines powerful narratives with visually stunning elements to depict Shri Krishna’s journey. Penned by renowned screenwriter and Padma Shri awardee Prasoon Joshi and directed by renowned theater expert Shruti Sharma, the production masterfully captures Krishna’s timeless stories, from Vrindavan’s playful days to the royal courts of Dwarka.

The cast includes over 180 talented artists whose electrifying performances bring the legends of Krishna to life. The immersive experience is enhanced by 20 original compositions by acclaimed duo Sachin-Jigar. The soundtracks seamlessly combine Western symphonic melodies from Budapest with Indian classical music, creating a deeply moving listening experience.

Exceptional design and choreography

Omung Kumar’s lavish production design plays a crucial role in making the show a visual masterpiece. The elaborate sets take the audience to the mystical realms of Vrindavan, Mathura and Dwarka. Complementing the magnificent sets, the mesmerizing choreography by Bertwin D’Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna captures the essence of divine Leelas and adds rhythm and movement to Krishna’s stories.

National Award-winning writer Raam Mori carefully researched the script to ensure depth and authenticity, while creative producers Parthiv Gohil and Viral Rachh leveraged their extensive experience in music and theater to make the production a cultural phenomenon.

Costumes to match divinity

Acclaimed costume designer Neeta Lulla contributed to the greatness of the show by designing over 1,800 bespoke costumes. Known for her work in iconic Indian films, Lulla brings the mythical characters to life in her creations, combining traditional aesthetics with a modern twist. Each costume reflects the majesty and spirituality of the characters, adding another level of visual splendor to the production.
