Crisis intervention

The Crisis Intervention Team (KIT) Vorarlberg has been called upon for 250 missions so far this year. The team’s achievements since it was founded around 25 years ago were recognized on Friday at an event in Dornbirn. Since its inception, KIT has supported and accompanied around 20,000 people.

The Vorarlberg crisis intervention team has been doing indispensable work for 25 years and offers people valuable support in the most difficult hours after traumatic experiences, said State Councilor Martina Rüscher (ÖVP) at the award ceremony. The volunteers are a mainstay in acute care. Rüscher described the fact that KIT has already been named for 250 support missions this year as a “German sign of the great importance”.

Significantly more interested parties than training places

There has been great interest in volunteering at KIT Vorarlberg for years, said Rüscher. KIT currently has 90 active members, and the next training course for 16 new volunteers will start at the beginning of 2025. According to Rüscher, there were over 70 people interested in these 16 courses. As part of the celebrations on Friday, eight volunteer members were also honored for their long-standing commitment – ten or 20 years of service.

4,600 care missions since 1999

Since KIT Vorarlberg was founded on September 21, 1999, the teams have been involved in a total of over 4,600 care missions and supported almost 20,000 people. According to the state, the close cooperation with the sponsoring organizations, emergency organizations, social and church institutions as well as the authorities has made KIT Vorarlberg an indispensable part of the rescue chain.
